Colin was my teaching colleague at AGS in the 1990s and we renewed our connection more recently through Shore Community Church. I will miss him. We shared quite a bit of life history and experience. He had a very dry sense of humour and was a very sharp intellect. Rise in glory my brother.

Daddy Speir. How can I possibly say goodbye? Thank you for letting me call you Daddy Speir for so many years. Thanks for raising Andy with Lynne to be the incredible friend he was. Thanks for sharing your music and your wisdom so freely. I’m so sorry I didn’t get those banjo lessons. I promise I’ll learn and play you a tune soon. I will think of you every time I play and miss you. Xxx

I fondly call Colin ‘my NZ dad’ because, for the last 14 years, he has been to me everything a father could be. It is without exaggeration that I say I would not be where I am today without his supportive, consistent presence. I love you Colin and I thank you deeply for your friendship. May you rest peacefully and happily with Andrew in Heaven x

Colin was highly intellectual and empathetic to the struggles of the human experience. When he played Amazing Grace in front of 10,000 people during our Easter Services in LA, he received a standing ovation. He loved the great Hymns and felt a deep connection to them.. While I miss him, I envy him. He is with Jesus…… and Andrew.

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Colin William Speir on Wednesday 27th November. He is loved immensely by his wife Lynne, Dad to Anna, (the late) Andrew and Nick, Papa to Elliot and Austin, brother to Moyra and Bruce as well as his many friends.
