Today, we gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman, Sam.Her presence was a vibrant force of nature, a small yet feisty spirit who could light up any room and stand up for those she loved.I often joked that she was like a chihuahua – small in stature but fierce and full of energy. Sam was known by many names ,Samira,Sam,Sammy, Mom and Ouma. She was someone who would always have your back, ready to fight for you in any situation.She had a heart of gold and an unwavering commitment to those around her.Her generosity knew no bounds, and she had an incredible talent for making something out of nothing.I will never forget the time she crafted an African outfit for Dan’s 21st birthday out of some curtains she found at the op shop.That was Sam – always creative, always resourceful, and always making every moment special. Her kindness was a beacon of light in our lives.Sam was there to offer advice, whether we sought it or not, and she did so with love and warmth.I considered myself truly blessed to have her in my life for 17 wonderful years.She always encouraged me to strive for better, to reach for my dreams, and to embrace the lessons of patience – a lesson I am still learning to this day. To call Sam my second mom was an honor.I won the mother-in-law lottery, and I will forever cherish the moments we shared, the laughter we enjoyed, and the wisdom she imparted.Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us to love fiercely, create joy from the mundane, and approach life with a fierce heart and open arms. As we say our goodbyes, let us carry Sam’s legacy in our hearts.Let us remember her for the vibrant, loving, and fiercely loyal woman she was.She may have left this earthly realm, but her spirit will live on in each of us, urging us to be better, to love deeper, and to never forget the power of kindness.Thank you, Sam, for everything.We will always make sure your never forgotten and will live on through our memories. Samira, my dearest, oldest friend, we may have not seen each other since we both moved continents, but we have remained close in heart, for when you have a connection such as we did that love never dissipates. My parents loved you as I did. They could see that you were a gift. A good soul. A person that made this world a better place by your presence. You enriched life with your zest for life, your laughter, your mischievousness your good humour and your sparkle. I am watching the live stream of your send off and how apt it is. it's a celebration of the beautiful life that you lived, even the dogs are participating, running around wagging their tails, joyful that they are there to remind us of your love that you instilled in them, trying to have a dip during the event! Oh Sam what all I can say my darling courageous friend a light has certainly gone out.
