Such a well deserved tribute for an amazing, caring & fun loving guy. Enjoyed a lot of wine tasting Wednesday nights after BOT meetings and not being able to decipher my Minutes Secretary shorthand the next day. Many memorable fun times and pot luck dinners listening to Charlie’s impressionable CD and record collections and he surpringly managed to turn a lot of devoted Lion Red drinkers into wine connoisseurs. Also great memories of family holidays together in Fiji and Samoa while he was tiling there. Charlie could give cheek as well as he got and never missed an opportunity to poke a bit of fun when his favourite Chelsea team won against another’s and took great delight in receiving it back as well as the many pranks made on him in good humour. Will sadly be missed but feel blessed for those memories which will last forever. RIP Charlie XX
Charlie was a free spirit and an adventurer, always drawn to the path less travelled, never weary of discovering new places and meeting new people, leaving a legacy of new friends wherever he landed. He was loyal, fired by his convictions and always ready to offer a helping hand. He was also a man with a vision with close ties to his homeland and a strong desire to make the world a better place. And he did just that. He followed his dreams, bought some land, built his home and married his love, Tina. And as they say, the rest is history.... Charlie lived a full and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of everyone in his community. You will be missed, my friend. Rest in peace now. Your work is done.
Thank you Charlie for all those lovely chats about gardening, travel and so much more.
We have so admired Charlie for being absolutely himself; unique, philosophical, caring. It was always a delight to discover he was at a family event and reconnect, discovering the latest project un̈dertaken. Tina you have shared light and enthusiasm with your record of you two walking Te Araroa. May that light continue with you in these days. Arohanui, Martin and Damian.
It was a priviledge knowing you Charlie. We cannot add anymore than what has already been said about you! Love to Tina, Len and condolence to the family Love Rosetta and Willie Janse van Rensburg
We remember good conversations with Charlie. What an interesting, kind man. Sincere sympathy to Tina and family.
Tina, Lenny and family, so sorry to hear of Charlies Passing, He was Friendly, humorous, reliable and humble and I did enjoy our chats when passing or over a beer at Norts shed whether it be about rugby , politics or whatever was current, he had huge knowledge and a bloody good bugger. He will be greatly missed by the KF community, I am sorry I cant be there to celebrate Charlies life owing to a prior engagement but will be thinking of you and will lift a glass in his memory later in the day. Please accept our deepest Sympathy and may he rest in Peace. Al and Judy Mason.
Charlie was one of the good guys. Literally. On the side of the light. Always a person you could count on, and not very happy if you had a problem and didn’t ask for his help. The high regard he is held in, by people from many different walks of life, is testament to the many lives he touched positively. Arohanui Tina and Len and all of Charlie’s family and friends. From Linda and whanau.
I loved our times together...you were a mighty human being. Arohanui and love to all who knew and loved Charlie. You will be truly missed mate!
Dearest Charlie Cryptic crossword fiend, peach bottler, wine connoisseur, world traveller and so much more. A wonderful person. Charlie I will never forget you. Heartfelt love Janice
All my love and thoughts are with you Tina and Len. Charlie will be so missed by many. Lest in peace Charlie- you had a huge heart.
Such a down to earth likable man. Very genuine, honest with a great sense of humour. We had some great conversations in the yard and up the rugby club. We met Charlie through employing Len his son in our yard. Charlie became our egg man as he did for many others. Sincere condolences to Tina, Len and family.
Such a great human!! Charlie welcomed us with open arms when we moved to Warkworth. Left a great impression on Trev ( no mean feat!!) . I will truly miss our football banter and your great smile. Truly privileged to have known you
My Father would have been so proud of the way you and Tina lived your life and looked after his beloved School Section. So sorry we can not be there to say our last good byes but rest assured I have memories that I will always cherish. Rest in peace my friend.. Phil & Cheryl. PS I now barrack for Chelsea.
I will miss my brother every day that passes by. Through the Good and bad we were always there for each other no matter what. I wish you were here to tell you again that I love you and that you are the best brother ever. I will forever be your little sister and you will forever be my big brother. RIP my Charlie xx
Where to start, have never met anyone more willing to help someone out, always rolling up his “flannel” sleeves and getting stuck in. A questionable rugby referee but an absolute legend of a man, will be sorely missed and never forgotten.
