My name is Heinz Fett. While I have not known Daniel as long as many of you here, the relationship I had with him was perhaps of a slightly different nature. Daniel and I first met around four years ago at a Prostate Cancer Awareness walk. During that brief encounter, we shared our personal experiences with prostate cancer, but our conversation quickly turned to a shared vision: raising awareness about prostate cancer, a topic that is often overlooked or difficult to discuss. Daniel was deeply passionate about increasing awareness, while my focus has been more on fostering community—bringing men together to share their experiences and provide mutual support. It was not an easy task; progress was slow and, at times, frustrating. However, we persisted, setting ourselves a two-year timeline to make meaningful advancements. With the invaluable support of the Prostate Cancer Foundation, we launched a local support group in August 2023. Earlier this year, we also successfully started a fitness class under the foundation's umbrella—a fantastic platform combining physical activity and open discussions. Sadly, Daniel was unable to participate in these fitness classes due to the treatments he was undergoing at the time. Daniel remained a steadfast advocate for prostate cancer awareness. Together, we had envisioned initiatives that would encourage men to speak openly about their health and personal challenges. While not all of these plans came to fruition, I carry Daniel’s spirit and determination with me and will continue the work we started together. One of Daniel’s favorite messages was, “Don’t be staunch—be strong, and get checked.” I believe these words reflect his unrelenting commitment to this cause. In closing, on behalf of Daniel, I have a simple request: please talk to just one person and encourage them to get checked. Nothing would have made Daniel

Dearest Shirley,Leigha,Jessica,Mikayla and Kristy-Grace. A beautiful service and Tribute to Daniel. Many memories and stories told that I too enjoyed being a part of the food Parcels furniture pick ups and deliveries, youth fellowship to name a few. Daniel calling truly shined with his never ending service to all, and yes anyone he met he wanted the backstory. He thrived on backstory the connection and where he could help. We are all truly blessed by his love for all he crossed paths with. His humble genuine caring nature shone through, no problem was too big or small. I enjoyed a great sporting connection mainly rugby the all blacks and league, either on TV or live at the stadium a robust healthy debate always ensued. Daniel and Shirley kindness and love are always at the forefront in everything, especially the family times meals, their door was always open. Daniel’s life was full and yet he served others unquestionably, his mana strength a true measure worthy of the man he is and shown by the path he walked. Revel in today the outpouring of love take that forward and in times of comfort revisit let it wash over you and bathe in the warmth, that’s where you’ll find him and he will shine through when you need it most. All our love Sharon and Samuel

It was a fitting service to Dan, he was a a genuine guy, full of life and committed to his passions. I always enjoyed his company on the sidelines of the many hockey turfs we stood. My deepest condolences to you Shirley and the girls. His warmth and friendship will always be remembered. With love Mary-Ellen Hope

A beautiful service & a beautiful family with many loving memories to cherish. Thankyou for the link so I could be part of celebrating Daniels life. Many years have passed Shirley & we cousins lose touch. We move towns or countries & life moves on. Thinking of you at this sad time. Xx
