Mother’s Hands
The hands that rocked the cradle and wiped away the tears
That gently soothed our worried brows and calmed our childhood fears
That washed and cleaned and mended and nursed us when in pain
Through hurried days and weary nights was a love that did not wane
Those hands that rocked the cradle have grown stiff and knarled and old
The years they have taken their toll and their stories in the hands now unfold
But those hands so stiff and twisted tell a tale for all to see
Those hands that are my mother’s are so beautiful to me

Thank you for arranging for the publication of the death notice in the Otago Daily Times; it was kind of you to think of us down here. The notice not only made Aunty Ivy's death seem more real but also served as a reminder of how much she was loved by so many people.
I am so sorry to hear about Aunty Ivy. Just letting you know that we are thinking of you all and know how you are feeling.
Thank you for letting me know the time. I was thinking of Aunty Ivy at 2pm. I had prepared a floral tribute of 9 different pansy flowers, one for each decade of Aunty Ivy's life, with love in the mist, rosemary (for remembrance) and some baby gipsophilia. At 2pm I put the arrangement next to dad's photo in the living room and said my thanks for the beautiful memories, goodbye and a prayer for God to keep Aunty Ivy safely in his care until we meet again. Dad and Aunty Ivy loved gardening and were very fond of pansies which stand for thoughts. I also thought of you and wondered what you were doing at 2 o'clock. I knew you would have Pete for support whatever you did or wherever you were. Lots of love xx
