Bev, words are insufficient to describe your loss with John’s passing. To you and your family and to your extended family, to John’s sisters and families the Belton family send our sincere condolences. Going back to John’s parents our families were farming neighbours at Kohi for decades. We all went to the Kohi primary school as kids and then our parents were neighbours in Waverley. Our families have had a long association. In recent years I reconnected with John and Bev through cycling events and visiting them in New Plymouth where my son lives. To me John was sincere, respectful, a good businessman building their farming empire and most of all humble. He loved his cycling in later years. I wish that I could be with you today, Bev, to celebrate John’s life but I will be thinking of you all. May John rest in peace! Raewyn, Malcolm and David Belton

Bev and family ...I was absolutely shocked to hear of Johns tragic accident , John was a person quietly spoken but passionate about farming and his sport of cycling, on many occasions John would extend an invitation to come biking , my reply was "I'm a little fat office boy who would struggle to keep up" , John been very gracious would reply" we will always wait for you at the top of the hill" ..... I would run into John on my many walks in New Plymouth , and always had a good old chat.......in life you meet many types of people , John was one of those guys I respected for his knowledge and love of his sport, a family man , very honest and respectful, enjoyed a laugh, but all that said " a bloody good bugger " John, I will miss you mate , it has been my pleasure to have met you in my life. Bev it is a very hard time for you and your family I'm always there to support you all. Rest easy mate , you'll always be missed Mike Davey New Plymouth
