Red River Valley
From this valley they say you are going
We will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile
For they say you are taking the sunshine
That has brightened our pathways awhile
Story by Emma Collingbourne (when she was in year 8)
My Grandad is gorgeous. His hair is snowy white and his face is wrinkled. On his face his white eyebrows sit above his eyes. A grey tartaned cap fits firmly on his bald head. His hair peeps out around the edge of his hat. Blue eyes gleam all day long, while his friendly smile beams.
My Grandad’s got a great sense of humour, his chuckle cheers up the whole family. He is easy going, wouldn’t harm a fly. His heart is full of warmth and loving care. To my little cousins he is a gentle giant and to me he’s just great.
He is very neat and tidy, always has his shirt tucked in. Buckles up his belt, buttons up his blouse. Flattens out the creases and tidies up his hair.
Bob the builder, can we fix it? Bob the builder, yes we can. My Grandad can build lots of things, from tables to chairs. You name it. He also has a big thing on gardening. He adores his garden. His jungle like garden is full of colours and shapes and sizes. He waters flowers everyday and trims off any dead leaves.
He lives in Rotorua, you may find him in his garden watering plants or building things on the patio. They have never moved since they’ve had children.

Sorry we weren't able to be there in person, we tuned in to the live stream at home in Mosgiel, lovely service for Robert, sending love to you all x
We are so very sorry to hear of the passing of dear Robert. As my mother says, 'He was such a gentleman'. Robert was a kind man with a sharp sense of humor. He brought joy to the students in Te Maru and my mother loved his visits and long chats about the old days. Robert will be sorely missed but remembered with much love.
