9 April 1939 – 8 January 2025
OSBORNE, Sandra Robin (Sandy). Passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on 8th January 2025. Sandy was much loved and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
I wanted to take a moment to write this letter to you, not just to say goodbye, but to share how deeply grateful I am for all the wonderful moments we shared. You were more than just a great-grandmother to me; you were a source of love, kindness, and wisdom that shaped me in so many ways. Some of my favorite memories with you are the simplest ones. Whether it was sitting together and listening to your stories about the past, or those warm afternoons spent laughing over tea, every moment felt special because you had a way of making everyone feel loved and valued. You always knew the right words to say to brighten my day or the gentle advice to guide me when I felt lost. Your presence was comforting, like a hug that could last forever. I will never forget the little lessons you taught me—how to treat others with kindness, how to be patient even when life gets tough, and how to always find joy in the small things. You showed me what it means to live a full and meaningful life, and I will carry those lessons with me for the rest of my days. Even though I can’t be there in person to say goodbye, please know that I’m with you in spirit. I’ll be watching the service and thinking about all the wonderful times we shared. I wish I could tell you one more time how much you mean to me, but I hope you already knew. You were so deeply loved, and I’ll always be grateful for every moment I had with you. I miss you already, but I’ll keep your memory alive in my heart. Thank you for being such an incredible great-grandmother and for filling my life with so much love and happiness. Rest peacefully, knowing how much you are cherished and remembered. With all my love, William
He mihi atu ki a koe whaea Sandy. Thanks for your genuine passion and dedication to supporting rangatahi through some of their hardest times. You never judged them for what they did, but encouraged them to do better next time. Rest in love now.

Farewell Aunty Sandra. You are now in a place where you can look down on us with your sister (Reina my mum). You will smile as you watch us as we make our way in life. You will not be forgotten but much loved.
Sandy your beautiful soul and in your words "the dinosaur" but an amazing a caring wahine for her whanau and the rangatahi and whanau she worked with. I am sure you will be telling those with you about your amazing journeys and love for everyone. Farewell Sandy
You just think there will always be time for a catch up, rest easy my friend, you are much loved and will be missed by your work whanau. I valued your support, genuine kindness and care, thank you. Can’t sign off without mentioning “back in the Wairarapa”, the self proclaimed ‘dinosaur’ of our team, with love, go well Sandy
Sandy upon reading of your passing today i am deeply saddened. I just want to say "thankyou" so, so much for being an awesome mentor, Supervisor, during my years with Oranga Tamariki from 2001 to 2017. I remember meeting you for the first time when i was based in Wellington in my role as a Youth Justice Social Worker. Our paths crossed again when i transferred to Rotorua in 2012 only for me to leave in 2017 due to illness. But we always kept in touch, you applying a very supportive role for me. I am sure that along with your whanau and many, many friends we are going to miss you terribly Sandy and you will always remain in our hearts forever
A truly remarkable lady who has touched our lives in countless ways our beloved aunty, a mother figure whose beauty radiates from the inside out. With a heart of gold, she has been a shining light of kindness, love, and compassion, inspiring everyone around her. Unique charm filling every room with warmth and joy. She had an incredible ability to make every situation brighter, turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories and sharing such rich history. As a role model, she demonstrated what it means to be selfless and nurturing. Her kindness knew no bounds, she was always there to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear. She taught us the value of compassion, reminding us that a small act of kindness can make a world of difference. Her loving nature extended beyond family; she welcomed everyone with open arms, making each person feel special and valued. She had a unique gift for connecting with others, creating lasting love. You will be so missed. Love you so so much!!!
