Patrick Norman Penwarden

Also known as "Paddy"

19 June 195618 January 2025

PENWARDEN, Patrick Norman but Paddy to most.

Paddy was born in Mangakino. He was the Second child of Norm Penwarden (Father) and Sue Penwarden (Mother). He was brother to Douglas, Robert, Murray and Steven.

In 1991 Paddy Married Pam and she remained the love of Paddys life till her passing in 2021. Paddy helped raise and mentor Pams son Matt. After Matt married Tania, Paddy became "Pop Pop" to Nassah, Shawnee, Wyatt and Elliotte. Before Paddys Passing, he learned he was going to be a great granddad.

The Kinleith Forest of the South Waikato where a big part of Paddys life over his years. It provided Paddy a place of work, where he formed friendships with most that he worked with.  Kinleith was also there for him to exercise his number one passion in life, Hunting. The hours Paddy spent happily Hunting would be immeasurable.

The World is a sadder place without Paddy in our lives. But Paddy touched everyone he met and he has left us with memories we will cherish forever.

First time I met you and Pam through Brad, he was so happy to introduce me to you both. You treated him like another son, you were like his 2nd Parents. Every birthday you would fill up his lolly jar didnt matter what age he was.( being an adult lol)When I was in labour I rung you and you dropped everything to go look for him in the bush at work. So it made sense that when we had Jordan we had to name part of him after you (patric) which he was always JP to you. You will always be in our hearts and Jordan will always know that he was named after an amazing caring man. Rest easy Paddy now you are with Pam xx

Uncle Paddy, I will miss playing HORSE on our various road trips, and the Rummikub tournaments where each turn took 10 minutes to execute (I maintain this was permitted by the rules). Thank you for letting me set off fireworks in the backyard, and more recently for lobbying for me to acquire the air conditioner - you always had a keen sense of justice and I will miss your support (see attached). I hope wherever you are that Auntie Pam is there, as well as plenty of deer. Rest easy,

Hannah

Still cant believe u have gone. Thanks for all the great memories, you were a big part of our lives. When i was little u would ring me up every year to make a bet on Bathurst. I loved holdens and you loved “fords” which i found out years later u supported holdens 🤦🏼‍♀️. Thanks for letting me tag along on some fishing trips and duck shooting trips when i was younger u were like uncle to us if not the best uncle ive had. You wore jandles 24/7 didn’t matter if it was hot, cold, raining or frosty u hand jandles on until that one time you turned up to nikki’s 21st with a flash pair of shoes on I couldn’t believe my eyes it was Highlight of the night🤣. I know u will be with pam now and out of pain. We love u sooo much paddy and our family is really going to miss you especially Mum and Dad ❤️❤️❤️

Dear Paddy You have to have been one of the kindest and generous people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Although we will miss you terribly I know you will be so happy to be with Pam again. Your grandchildren will never forget you as you and Pam showered them with so much love and made awesome memories together . I promise to take good care of them for you. Matt is like a son to me and thanks to you both you raised him to be a decent and kind person. A perfect match for my daughter. I also promise to take care of him for you both. Bye Paddy I will miss seeing you zooming along the board walk and stopping in for a coffee . 😥

Paddy, I look back fondly at the time we spent working together in the forest. Your endearing nick name you used for me, Junior! still hangs in the back of my mind. You made me laugh, and still do when I think back to when you would throw a map on my desk wanting something from engineering. I would always ask "when do you need this done by?" to which you would always reply "two weeks". The way you treated others is a testament to the type of person you are. May God welcome you. Rest in peace.

Thank you for welcoming me into the family unconditionally Uncle Paddy. I am going to miss you telling Allan to tidy up when he was being cheeky… Hey Uncle Paddy, it’s your number 1 nephew lol. Cheers for being there for me all these years. I am going to miss our talks about b.s with a flat white. Cheers also for giving me my flat white addiction. I will always have memories of building the benches in my man caves with you, while the girls went shopping. Talking more than building. Measure three times, cut once. I am going to really miss the mean yarns, and being able to talk to you about anything.

Carol and Allan

Thanks for all the memories Paddy. The multiple laughs we had in our corner of the old office to your sayings that always cracked me up. Telling foreman to get something sorted “ASP”, or if you didn’t agree with a someone telling them to “tidy up”. The drives in the forest when I first started when I would be thrown forward against the seatbelt as you had stopped in a hurry as you had seen some deer sign and had to back up and investigate it further. Always looking out for me and checking in when you had so much of your own stuff going on. I will never forget ya. Rest easy with Pam. Love ya xx

Paddy me ol' mate, you were truly one of life's good buggers! You and Pam were the loveliest couple that anyone could ever meet. Your enthusiasm and positivity were infectious, and we are all better people for having known you. I'll miss your animated story telling and all of the tall tales shared on our frequent forest missions. So long Mr Paddy, you will be missed. Pman.
