I met Marion in my mid teens and along with Lynne Coverdale Marie wright, sue Murray and Karen Harwood, we became an inseparable group of girls, who stuck together venturing into our adulthood with fantastic memories, close friendships and lifelong bonds. My memories of Marion were special and although we travelled our separate paths in life, our friendship ties were unbroken and whenever we reunited nothing changed. Marion was beautiful inside and out. She was a gorgeous loving, caring sole, she brightened any room with her vivacious and sparkling personality. She touched the hearts of many. She met her ‘love’ Dave, they married and had two beautiful boys. When Marion became ill, she recalled to me, how special, supportive and loving Dave was and she couldn’t have gone on without him. Her children she said were her proudest moments and biggest achievements whom she cherished. Marion was from a very loving family and I recall many a night staying over, only to wake up with music and laughter and a good hearty breakfast cooked by her devoted parents who always made me and the girls feel welcomed. My heart is heavy with the loss of you Marion, over these years of illness, you have been brave, courageous and never wanting to give up. I will treasure the memories I have of you forever. One thing you weren’t successful at though was trying to teach me the words to the disco songs, we cheerily danced to RIP my beautiful friend, those angels have got themselves a Diamond♥️♥️♥️♥️
I only knew Marion to say hello to before I started coming to West at Brierton Lane. Going into the club after a game was a bit daunting, but the first time Marion called me over to sit with her and introduced me to people. I'll always be grateful to her for that. We enjoyed many a 'do' after that, and my last memory of her is after a night out in Newcastle when she was singing out loud and swinging around the metal pole on the corporation bus we were travelling in. Happy days. Will always be remembered. Xx
We loved living next door to Marion because she was a lot of fun, kind and always up for telling a good story. A beautiful smile and a beautiful soul. We will always treasure the memories with her and David too. Fondly remembered by the Furner Family, love to you all. Xx

Marion was a friend to all, always with a welcome smile and a kindness rare. She was a big part of our rugby family prior to moving to New Zealand and one that was thought of, and spoken about with fondness often. We send out heartfelt condolences to Dave, Elliott and Dominic, and their families. He aroha whakayā ho to whānau i tēnei wā pouri
