Paul, it is sad news to hear of your passing. You have ben taken far too soon. Shine on you crazy diamond. Shpresa in Dunedin
Wrighty….. I remember when we first drank some seriously good wine together. It was at Wanaka in the summer of early 1988. We were sitting on the lawn in front of Dave and Mandy’s place looking over the lake on a fantastic Central evening. The wine was a gold medal 1986 R & B Gisborne Chardonnay. I couldn’t believe at the time how generous you were in sharing that wine with me, it was the best I had ever drunk. We sat there for ages solving the problems of the world and from memory finished off 2 bottles. It was the beginning of a tremendous friendship that I will cherish for as long as I live. Our time working together at Corbans Wines was the most fun and satisfying time I have had in my working life. You taught me about wine, how to use both the credit book and the silver dollar the correct way and also have fun. They were very good days Since then, there have been times when we haven’t seen each other for some time but when we did catch up it was just like it always had been…..two friends. The news of your passing has affected me as I imagine it has others….. I will miss you. I am so very happy that we managed to catch up for lunch, with some of the other rogues, at Best Café in Dunnos last year. You were my good friend and mentor, a very generous person and an excellent human being. The world is a worse off without you in it. RIP my friend, Rossco
