It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon McKenzie on 1st February 2025, at the age of 75. Gordon was a beloved brother of Elizabeth (affectionately known to her as “Gordie”), father of Sheila, cousin of Dougal and Norman, Deirdre and Gareth. A friend of many, known for his infectious laughter, abrupt manner, and sharp wit / tongue. Born on May 12, 1949, in Hong Kong, Gordon was a man of various interests and passions. He was an avid model collector and maker, with an interests in cars, trucks, and tractors, and had a love for the outdoor countryside and farmlands. His particular sense of humor and quick tongue will be chuckled over by those who knew him, often lightening the mood with his unique brand of humor (and behavior). Gordon's resilience in the face of life's difficulties was truly inspiring. He faced many health challenges over the years with courage and resoluteness and always found a way to cope. While he could be quick to temper, it was always followed by a chuckle and never bore any malice. Gordon leaves behind relatives, friends, and neighbours who will miss his presence. A celebration of Gordon's life will be held on February 11th, 2025, at The Maunu Crematorium Chapel in Whangarei, where friends and family will gather to share memories and remember the joy he brought to our lives. May Gordon rest in peace, and may his memory continue to bring joy to those he touched in many ways.
