Reinhard, with much sadness we say goodbye to a wonderful, kind and compassionate human being today. You were my very first boss back at Rest NZ in 2004 and I couldn't have been luckier to start my tourism career under your wings. It is also thanks to you that I can call NZ my home now and I will be forever grateful for your support. To Jill, Andre, Steph, Ryan and Raffy - my heart goes out to you in this time of grief. What a wonderful ceremony you have put together to celebrate his life! He was a truly remarkable man. Sending lots of love your way!
Reinhard, you have had such a big impact on my life...particularly after Brian passed away...I knew the Huebers were there! I will always be so grateful to you for being such a great friend to Jen...to you and Jill for always including her in things. The Huebers and Donaldsons were always doing things together...road trips around the South Island, up at our beach house, at Manly. But there was nothing more I loved than heading to Audrey Road for barbeques, sitting on the deck out the back by the plum tree...so often there would be true belly laughs with tears streaming down all our faces! I will always remember you so fondly and that special laugh of yours! xx
Reinhard, You were always a fun to be around. We could share a drink and a laugh, and you had this delightful, almost slapstick sense of humour. I thoroughly enjoyed our social gatherings. You were an intelligent man with a deep appreciation for culture and the finer things in life. auf Wiedersehen Reinhard. “A fine gentleman “ Brian Gallocher
Condolences to Jill and family. I will be eternally grateful to Reinhart for enabling so many beautiful young people from Germany to come to REST NZ to do their internships and as a result to have them live with me over 20 years. They enriched my life and brought me great joy. So thank you Reinhart. May you rest in peace.
Reinhart, Life shining from you - is how I will remember you. Never short of an interesting, intellectual conversation. There is so many wonderful traits I can see your fathering has passed onto Steph. Passion, drive & worldliness designed into serving a life at it's greatest. Bravo on the years you have anchored in the alchemy of health,, passing on the masterpiece of discoveries for your next generation to persue. Thanks for raising Steph bilingual, that's how I passed my German exam when we were 13... The world has truly lost a beautiful human. Your heart & soul lives on & will be felt eternally. Rest in love & shine on Wise One x x x
REINHARD with a heavy heart I say my last good bye to a very dear old friend. In 1974 Reinhard was driving across the Auckland harbour bridge with his VW Beatle that had a "Bavarian" sticker in the rear window. I followed this guy until we both, being Bavarian, came to a stop to say Servus (hello in Bavarian). And so began our close friendship. In 1987 we started a business venture together called Rest New Zealand Tours (RE for Reinhard and ST Stefan). While people often say one shouldn't do business with friends, we did very well and survived a lot of ups and off course a few downs. Best of all however our friendship stayed in tact. I often think back to the great times we had together sharing them with our spouses Jillian and Martina. Reinhard always was a good listener and often my mentor. You will be terribly missed, my friend, and we are so grateful for the many unforgettable memories. A very sad Stefan and Martina xxx
Reinhard, you will live on in my heart and will never be forgotten! For all the joy you gave me, may you rest peacefully. You were the best boss anyone could have asked for, back in 2006 in Takapuna at REST! Thank you for staying in touch over so many years, you will forever remain in my thoughts and heart! I am so grateful to have met you and your wonderful family! Jill, Andrè and Steph: We are sending you much love, light and strenght! Raffy: Your grandpa is such an incredible and proud man! He will always be with you! Our deepest sympathy with tears. Sandra
I came to know Reinhard through my internship at REST NZ Tours more than 20 years ago. He was such warm and friendly person who always had a good advise available. I will never forget that he even offered me to come to work for him after my studies. Although I had finally never taken this step I cannot express enough my appreciation for the trust he had put in me. I am glad we’ve stayed in touch even after so many years. At the same time I am very sorry that we have not managed to see each other more often. The last time was back in 2017. We always tend to think that we have all the time in the world for a “next time” until we realize that in fact we haven’t. I will miss you Reinhard. Thank for your kindness and always being a friend! Our last photo together at Piha Beach in Feb 2017…
Reinhard is a very special person leaving this world. During my studies, I had the pleasure of having him as my boss during my semester abroad. I got to know him as a very creative, warm and helpful person. I have rarely had so much fun at work and rarely laughed so much! I look back fondly on that time and I am grateful that I was privileged to get to know Reinhard! My deepest sympathy is with you, dear Jil, Andrè and Steph! Sünne, Germany
In life you only come across a few special people that leave an engraving on your heart. Reinhard, you were one of these people and we feel enriched for knowing you. You opened your home and your heart to us. You made us laugh and we have enjoyed many evenings with you sharing wine and stories. We will never forget you Reinhard and we will forever be grateful that we met and shared a special friendship with you. Rest in peace now our friend. We love you dearly. Dave, Sherryl and family xo
