On my 1st visit to New Zealand with my partner, Brenda Gates (see previous tribute) when chatting to Liz and Chas, we learnt that one of his daughters had married a guy from Silverdale, here in Cumbria, UK. Brenda asked his name and what school he went to, ironically she remembered him as had taught him at Carnforth School. Small World. (Sorry I cannot clarify further with his name as Brenda is away at the moment - looking after grandchildren on half term). Condolences to Liz and family - enjoyed watching the service, albeit early hours, here in the UK. R.I.P. Chas. Respect. Resurgam
Great memories of your, and Pete Muir’s, friendship as Artificer Apprentices in the early 60’s. So glad we met you and Liz on both our 2 visits to New Zealand with Brenda. RNZN Wren Officer Penny McGhie (now Penny Aubrey, a friend here in Cumbria, UK) and my cousins Penny and Andrea (Warsash, near Southampton, UK) all also have fond memories of you. R.I.P. Resurgam Richard V. Glenister Lt.Cdr.(WESM), RN (Rtd)
Thank you for your friendship , thoughtfulness, many kindnesses and great sense of humor. While living in NZ, far from home, you and Liz always made us feel welcome, especially on family holidays. We will miss your stories and your ready smile. Love, Ellen and Larry
Dear Chas, Thank you for your friendship. We always enjoyed your interesting stories. and feeling very welcome in your home. As ex armed forces we shared similar interests. Wishing all the best to Liz and family, sorry we cannot be there today. Kind regards John and Sharon
Chas - we never got around to making that stainless steel pole for your swimming pool. John
Dear Liz, thinking of you and the happy times we spent with Chas. From your memorable wedding onwards, he was always thoughtful, kind, interesting and fun to be with..His banter with, and obvious affection for your father was always a pleasure to see. I am visiting New Zealand next month and hopefully I will see you then. Love and best wishes to you and your family.
