When I think of Maree I can hear her laughter—a bright and joyful burst of energy. It was impossible to hear it and not be lifted by the sound, an expression of the vitality and vibrancy she carried. And I saw that vitality and vibrancy in Maree's relationship with John - great supporters of each other, enduring partners, adventurous companions, and loyal friends. The strength of their bond was evident, built on a shared respect and love of life. For me personally, Maree and John were a huge support at the most crucial juncture in my life, as I sat in their rented room on the Wandsworth Bridge Road in London, sobbing through an entire box of their tissues. She was so patient and kind, gently encouraging and challenging me to find my way, offering support when it mattered most.
