Our deepest sympathy to Gwens Family. We give thanks to God for Gwens life and her strong Christian faith and passion for service. As (Simon) cousins we have enjoyed our contact with her and Jean across the Tasman over many years through visits (only 5-6) but more recently through many letters and emails as we have shared common family and church interests. Well done Good and Faithful Servant. Enter into the Joy of your Lord. Alan and Robyn Bradley and Robyn Bradley
Our sincere sympathy to all of Gwen's family. Gwen and I are second cousins (her father and my father were cousins) and I first met Gwen and Jean when their family visited Sydney, I think it was in 1948. Gwen and I were about 13 at the time and since then we have kept in touch over all the years. She has been to Perth (West Aust) a couple of times to visit her family and she has always got in touch with me too. I will miss her very much. Joan Wheeler.
Gwen was lovely, friendly and welcoming when I first attended Chartwell Church. She smiled when she saw me and remembered my name. It's the little things like that that matter in life. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
I first met Gwen - then Gwen Burton - in the early 70s at theological college Auckland, where her then husband, Russ, was also a Methodist theology student. Our paths crossed again in 1981 in Dunedin at which point Gwen became an honorary "Aunty" to my four children. Then from 1984, upon a family move to Hamilton where Gwen and Russ had also moved, the relationship of "Aunty" and family friend deepened. Subsequent church involvement and her marriage to David Kentish and their shared interests in wider matters of religious studies at Waikato, where I was teaching, further strengthened my appreciation of Gwen's qualities as a caring and astute person. She has been a much respected, loved and valuable friend and confidant. A life well and fully lived, a faithful and thoughtful Christian woman, may she rest in peace.
Gwen came into our lives over 30 years ago and although circumstances changed we kept in touch. I'll miss her newsletters telling me about her many activities and travels. "A Life Well Lived" Teresa, Dave and family. Southampton, UK.
Our deepest sympathy to you Judy and John and the extended Family. May your Mum rest peacefully and the memories of Mum help you through this sad time
