HANCOCK, Alastair Peter (Al):
Alastair Hancock – A true friend
“A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart”. Te wharehuia Milroy
Alastair unexpectedly died at home on Friday, 28 February 2025 aged 50. He was a much-loved husband and friend to Michelle, a cherished Dad and friend to Eli and Cassidy, and a loved youngest son of Basil & Maureen. He was loved and respected by his in-laws Gordon and Jan (late) Bird, brothers and sisters-in-law Ross & Deb, Phil & Helen, Neil, Rosalyn, Katherine, and Andrea. Loved by many nieces and nephews. We all enjoyed his cheeky sense of humour outrageous ‘dad jokes’ and the time and love he gave to us all. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.

Alastair welcomed Michelle's out of town work colleague and friend into his home with laughter and warmth. An accomplished ringawera, he also provided the kōrero and laughs, truly epitomizing manaakitanga. E kore te tino tangata e ngaro i roto it te tokomaha

Since we heard the awful news I’ve had so many little memories pop into my head - all so sweet and so warm… sitting in the kitchen chatting while you create a delicious masterpiece (always served after we’ve finished a bottle of wine already!), listening to your soulful guitar, laughing along with your cheekiness… your friendship has been a joy and treasure and we will miss you so much.
