Tributes

Memories of Alison will always be with us. First of all for me, Alan, during my early years in Chad as a bachelor, staying with the Hewlett family. Alison looked after me, almost as a loved member of the family. Then, some years later, Alison put on a spontaneous engagement party for us. In the following years we were always shown warm hospitality whenever we passed through Pala and also when I, Alan, travelled to the Cameroons for shopping. The highlight of any trip to NZ was always a visit to Tauranga to see Ivan and Alison and family. We can truthfully sum up Alison as being kind, generous, thoughtful and we always valued her support and encouragement. We give thanks to God for Alison and very much regret that age prevented us from celebrating her life with you all.

"Aunty" Alison was a gracious woman of character who was a great encouragement to our family (with her late husband Ivan) for the last 60+ years. The first English Christian song that I remember was played by Alison on her tape recorder at Pala, "Blessed assurance", probably late 1970s. I wish the family the very best as they build on her legacy of character through the generations. I am online and it is a pity that the live stream isn't working.

So many beautiful memories of Alison while being around her when I was a child… her generosity and hospitality, her kindness to everyone, her ability to whip up a meal with a moments notice… her open home. Will never forget her infamous fruit juice she made - consumed at every meal, her swimming pool, regular fashion show of op shop hauls, nothing was ever wasted! Will miss you but so many beautiful memories. X

Our sincere condolences to your family in your grief and loss. May you all know and experience the comfort of the Holy Spirit. Alison was a friend to us and to many. A faithful loyal servant of the Lord and a great hostess whose gift of hospitality blessed many people who visited their home. Loved, respected and honoured.

Family and friends of Alison lets celebrate her passing remembering Alison for the kind, generous, caring lady she was. Alison’s life was centred on others and their well being, walking with them through life’s events, serving her husband, children and grandchildren. She never wavered in her relationship with the Lord and talked freely about this relationship and you could never doubt the depth of her faith. Alison opened her home constantly to others for meals, fellowship and love. She sewed wedding dresses for others and altered many ready made garments. Goodbye Alison you dear precious lady..
