I don't know where to start or even how to start... I was working and I heard a voice say Griffith Parry, I instantly thought of my foster father and what a strong man he was, a Warrior, leader and a father to my younger brother (Jonathan) and myself. I then thought of my foster mother, Rosie. I remembered her being a teacher in the Primary school we went to, her meals she made us and the time she pluicked feathers from a bunch of ducks! I had never seen that before, but what a great mother Rosie was to us all. I thought there and then... how much i miss these 2 people. I thought of the Jones children, Dwyane was a really good football player and was kind to us from day one. Peter was playing football also, but never really talked to us much, Toni was a little snitch and always told on us while we live with the Jones, and Steven was my age in the same year at school, was also a really good football player. We met the jones on a Friday, dropped off at their house, we sat in the lounge and I was scared but as time rolled on everyone started appearing. My brother and I was taken in by the Jones as we were from a troubled life, and even though our real family loved us, lifes problems and situations were not favourable towards Jonathan and myself and we were sent to boarding homes before being fostered by the Jones and shown what real families lived and a way we could live going forward. Really... being taking in by the Jones was the best thing to happen to my brother and I. Mum and Dad. Just want you both to know. We missed you all a lot, I've just told Jonathan Taff has passed... I'm crying writing this. I had been trying to find you guys, I went to the old house 44 Madrass St to visit you all but you had moved on... I was never able to find you guys after that until now. I just want you to know... we both love you all, thanks for everything you have done for us. I hope to see you again one day soon when back in NZ Love you all. RIP father Taffy.
Thinking of you all at this sad time, and remembering all the happy days working alongside Taffy in Napier days.
Having been such a regular presence in my childhood, Taff was one of those people who I always expected to see again. It makes me very sad to think that that will never happen, but I am comforted by my fond memories of him and the warmth and humour that he added to my life. He, along with Rosie and the whole Jones family, left an indelible mark on me that I will always carry with me, and, despite not having seen him in a number of years, I will miss him deeply. I wish that I could be there in person, but am unequivocally there in spirit. I am reassured by all the warmth that Taff evoked, and by the love that he experienced throughout his life and that which he gave to me. Love to all his friends and family from Matt, Rae, Bob, and Derise Cubin. Taff will be deeply missed.
Sincere condolences to all of Taffs family. He has been a neighbour for more than 30 year's and we could not have asked for a better one. He is truly one of life's beautiful people. Always ready to chat, share a glass or two of wine, help whenever asked without hesitation. We will truly miss him. One of life's good buggars. RIP Taff and keep smiling above the clouds. Lots of Love Alison, Cameron, Becca, Simon and Oscar Casson
