Dear Ma, my deepest gratitude for all you have given us your family through all the years, teaching all your children the basics of home cooking, though as your first born, I was the last to learn. You always emphasized healthy home cooking and eating habits. Sorry you went through the suffering these last few years, but God is our Healer in all that each of us go through in life. Till we meet again in God's time, may you and Pa both rest in God's everlasting arms now.
I will always remember Aunty Mey for her sacrifices for her family during her early years in NZ getting up at dawn to work in the nearby Countdown bakery. She has passed on to me her recipe and encouraged me to make my own nian gao.
In memory of my Popo : I remember a saying from one of my pastors during church service whereby when someone who is a believer passes, it doesn't mean that they are gone but rather they are just changing their address. I believe this is the same for Popo where she is now reunited in heaven with Gung Gung and our Father God in heaven where she can now watch over us along with them. I remember whenever i went to NZ when i was very young i would always look foward to her homecooked meals and playing in her garden whilst she would do her gardening watching out for me. Im going to miss Popo but i know this is just a temporary separation and we'll all be able to reunite with her eventually in heaven where we can all enjoy her cooking once again!
