From the Watson Clan, Billy, Sadie, Ross and Lee. Firstly our condolences to Sonya and both their families on the sudden passing of Peter. Over 30 years ago, I met Peter and he became part of our family, he was well respected by both sons Ross and Lee and he gave them some well worded advice over the years, thanks Peter much appreciated. Peter was also part of the Watson Rally Crew and he went all over the North Island as a crew member, trust me he had his work cut out!! One memory, of which there were many, was the Northland Rally and the car had been damaged and the driver’s door wouldn’t close or open, meaning they couldn’t continue in the rally. Well, there was Pete and Ross jumping on the bashed door to try get the door to a stage that it would both close and open, we wish we had recorded that, but hey the door passed the course marshals scrutiny and Lee and I continued on the rally. Fun times and memories. We all know Pete loved his Ford and when the Bathhurst race came around there was mates rivalry between Pete for Ford and the Watsons for Commodores. Great memories. He was a huge support for me when I was Commodore of the Te Atatu Boating Club where Pete was also on Executive. Pete also gave us so much help when we were building our home. Sadie loved going to Pete’s for dinner – he was an awesome chef. Thanks for being my buddy at the Tavern, when we would put the world to right. So many memories of Pete to try and put in a few sentences. Pete, you had a saying, Right was Right and Wrong was Wrong. Well it was right you and Soyna got to live your dream up in Northland but is was so wrong that it was for such a short time. We never dreamed you would leave us all so soon. So big fella, thanks for your friendship, loyalty and brilliant memories – you will never be forgotten.
