My heartfelt condolences to you all at the huge, sad loss of our dear Johnny. I believe not one person on earth will know of all the help and advice John gave out on the quiet. He was the soul of discretion and great kindness. He touched so many hearts and lives everywhere, as he so did mine. When God called him home when his heart became so tired, we have just been oh so sad indeed. I send you all my love and prayers at this time. Sues I am so sorry for your great loss. My thoughts with you all, love Minnie ♥

Dear Sue, Simon and family, My deepest condolences, I was so sad to hear of John's passing. I know he meant so much to so many. I personally feel I owe John (and you, Simon) essentially my whole career in Sports Medicine and insurance work. If it was not for the kind hearted support I received when I moved to Auckland, my life would not be what it is now. I will forever be grateful for having met him.

Well Doc, you were one of a kind, your mum taught me , I went to school with your youngest brother, and my sisters knew you, you stitched my lip up on the side of the pitch at Eden rugby club in a pre season friendly, and you never had a bad word about anyone, you were always just Doc to all of us at the Cote, even when you were All Black Doctor, as you never forgot your roots, you are a legend that will never be forgotten. RIP Doc, LTC and NZ RUGBY, Smiler ( Fly)

Dear Aunty Sue, Richard, Michael, Nic, Anna, partners and families It was with great sadness I learnt of Uncle John's health decline and death, he truly was a person who saw individuals and knew how to be inclusive and to treat everyone with regard. He was a large part of my formative years and when I recall happy family times he was usually there a key player. I am happy to have known him and to call him Uncle, I remember Mr and Mrs Mayhew well and believe their lovely character lived on in him. I pray today brings you all some peace as you share all the great stories together with everyone who loved him, and valued the mark he's left on us all. I am sorry I cannot make his funeral in person but I am with you all in spirit and online. Sending everyone big love from Kylie, Tom and Nax in Nelson
