Fay was a much-loved part of our family — to us she was a grandma, a great-grandma, and someone who meant a lot to all of us. She was in my life for 20 years and welcomed me into the family with open arms and over that time, she made a lasting impression. Living on opposite sides of the world — her in New Zealand, us in Canada — meant we didn’t get to see each other as often as we’d have liked. But when we did, especially during those visits to Te Maika, the time together really meant something. Those days are memories we’ll always hold close. She had a straightforward way of saying things, and she loved her family deeply. Our kids knew her as their great-grandma, and though they didn’t get decades with her, they felt her love in the moments they shared — and that’s something that sticks. Fay leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and connection. We’re grateful for the time we had with her and will carry her memory with us always. Forever in our hearts Fay, we love you 🕊️
Fay was one of the most genuinely positive persons I have ever met. She truly was a “glass half full” sort with a great sense of humour.. I have cherished the relationship we had, she was like a Mother yet also a very good friend to me. In person or a virtual video call, we could talk for ages, much to Ray’s constant “are you two still talking?” I wish I could have caught up In person, it’s been too long. She has left a big hole behind, but I feel fortunate to have so many wonderful memories. She was a great Grandmother to Jared, Kiel and Ethan, don’t know what I would have done without her and Ray when the boys were younger. Much love to you Ray, thinking of you.
I feel so fortunate to have seen Fay so much in these recent years. She was always so supportive, caring and just loved hearing about everything in our lives. Emmanuelle is very grateful to have had opportunity to meet and spend so much time with her. Fay immediately made her feel like part of the family and she will cherish the lasting memories together in Tauranga and Te Maika. Grandma Fay was a very important person in my life and will be dearly missed. Love Ethan & Emmanuelle
Grumma fay… thank you for being part of my life. Through the years of watching sport, taking us to Te Maika and in later years watching me travel around and hear of all our adventures. I will miss my unintentionally hilarious grandma. Thank you for letting us always share a laugh with you. Here a a few of my favourite quotes from grumma fay…. ‘Awwwwwww yeah’ ‘Having a slow day? Have a grape’ ‘Ooooooo YES’ (about being offered a caramel slice) ‘We are going in the you-Ber’ (Uber) ‘The cereal had an ant in it… I’ll give it to ray, he won’t notice’ ‘Would you like a date and cheese sammie’ Sending lots of love to the family back in nz…Feeling a little homesick at the moment. Lots of love, KT.
Fay was a wonderful mother to me, Kevin and Sandra. And Grandmother to Chris and Bex and Mason, Joanna and Steve and Tristan and Keeley, and Katelin…… What a trouper. After a poor heart diagnosis at 18 years old, open heart surgery in her 30’s, to a low handicap golfer in her 60’s, Mum was fully involved in all our family activities. So glad we visited last week before our overseas trip. Didn’t expect it to be our last catchup but some things are out of everyone’s control. Peaceful time now. And thinking of you Dad, a lot. Love Kevin and Sandra.
