John, Louise's Dad, first met at the then Pinatan Lake home, when he was taking one of his, few, brief breaks from his job at the TarSands Project Louise and I had only just begun courting, so as would any father. John was being very protective of-for Louise, making certain I was the right man for her. Later on in life, I came to be working at the same cedar wood block {Meeker's} as was youngest son"Kiwi". It's there I saw first hand John's phenomenal work ethic. Which even five years younger, I could never imagine doing. Six, and more oftentimes seven day's a week working, from early in the morning to late into the night, including the~45 minutes drive to and from his home. The mill had to be up and running, and John would make sure it was! Taking a quick break tea and biscuits, then back to work, that was John. John was an inspirational man, who I considered my Father, moreso than my birth father. I will forever cherish the memories of the times together with John and the Collette family. Mike

My first impression of Gavin was a much respected man with strong integrity,a big heart as I got to know him a little better that impression was true and so much more.He was a man that said what he ment and ment what he said he had a presence about him.that made the people he come in contact with always had a smile.and there isn't a I'll word to be said about this man.and if someone asked me to describe who Gavin was in one word .it would be honorable it's a great loss to all of his family and friends. Your gonna be missed dearly and never forgotten

My dad was the greatest man in so many ways, when I was quite young 4 maybe 5 I had convinced myself that he was a superhero. Boxer, milwright, husband, father, brother and friend. Gave everything he had to all he loved and was favorite sandwich our mother had in his lunch bag...pb and j. No nonsense for the most part, smart as they come. For me ,able to say that's my dad, and knowing I was one of his sons is everything. If I could live multiple life times, I wouldn't be half the man he was. It gives me a little grace to think he's back with our mother. Superhero in my books. And yes dad I'll try and stay off the piss...your son Bryan your already dearly missed 💙
