Tributes

John believed in me. We loved each other, respected one another and were strong friends. He always made time for me. I am forever grateful to hold cherished memories of brilliant conversations we'd ponder, spontaneous adventures we zoomed to in his bright yellow 'mustard' car-my happy colour-and the exhilirating times we shared in power prayer. John interceeded for people, for our hopes and for my future plans. He showed me support and gentleness, in the name of Christ and I will always endeavour to show people the same kindess. I am comforted, that John lives on in the eternal presence of our Christ Jesus, who I am forever grateful to, for John's Incredible life.

John I was so very sorry to learn of your illness and of your passing. I am grateful and thankful for the part that you have played in my life both as a support when needed and also for your role in the overall direction that my life would take: it was after all you that suggested a career in medicine along with the encouragement to go for it. I never looked back. Thank you. Now rest in peace and rise in glory.

oh john what is there to say. you certainly were never lost for words. you were someone who people were drawn to.. you genuinely were interested in where they came from and where they were going.. you in your hat, cigarette, black coffee and hot water, scrambled eggs sitting in the corner of the cafe we began tallking.. and never stopped. you spoke so fondly of your family and im sure they will miss you dearly. as we all will. the jokes may have been bad..and repeated your wisdom came through. a great orator your stories were always full of mischief suspense and meaning. you just showed such kindness to people, made an impression. our friendship meant a lot to me. fellow travellers on our own health journies you made it easier. as you said in our last conversation our timing was off lllbut i dont regret knowing you or sharing part of your life. go easy ... thank you for everything. always a special place in my heart.

It was a pleasure to meet John regularly at the cafe on a Friday morning where he often came for his breakfast. I enjoyed our conversations there and John is remembered with fondness by other regulars who got to know him there too. Rest in peace John.
