SANDERS, Martin Ernest.
Passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, at the age of 86. He spent his early years in the UK, approximately a decade at sea, before transitioning into the catering industry upon settling in New Zealand. In his retirement, he found ample time for photography and birdwatching on Tiritiri Matangi. His family and friends will deeply miss him, particularly his wife Irene and other immediate family members, including Vicki, Roger, Isla, Simon, Julia, and Sienna. A memorial service will be held at Dils Hibiscus Coast Chapel, located at 48 Waiora Road, Stanmore Bay, Auckland, at 11 am on Wednesday, April 30th.

We are all so sad at losing such a lovely man. We were all teenagers together and so have the happiest of memories. Everyone loved Martin. He was so kind, always smiling and he had such a sense of humour. Our thoughts and fond love are with Irene and all the family.
Such sad news. Martin led an interesting life and his photographs were amazing. Despite being all those miles away we always kept in touch every Christmas. So glad we managed to meet up in England in 2014 and catch up personally. Thinking of Irene and all the family at this sad time
Our thoughts go out to Irene on the loss of Martin. As brother and sister-in-law we had many wonderful times including holidays both in NZ and UK. In particular, we shared a love of boating which is illustrated in the photo. Martin, we shall miss you.
Such a kindly, warm-hearted man. I shall miss him on Tiritiri where he always brightened my day.
Martin, thank you for those times shared in both NZ, where you made us so welcome, and in the UK. Strange(?), no-one has mentioned your love of good wines yet. We always enjoyed a well-lubricated conversation!
Deepest Sympathy to you Irene and family. I have many fond memories of when I worked for Martin at the golf club. I was just thinking of him last week, wondering how he was. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this very sad time. May he REST in PEACE Noeline Gibbons
Our deepest condolences to Irene. Martin was such a nice guy, with a wonderful & irreverent sense of humour. We loved his wonderful photographs, and he & Irene introduced us to the island of Tiritiri. The world is a smaller & lesser place without Martin.
