Maurice Wakatipu White, what an amazing friend, father, mentor, grandfather, great grandfather and golfer. I had the absolute pleasure to call this incredible man my grandad, the memories we have had over the years will stay close to my heart and will help guide me to be the best version of myself. He was loved by many and cherished by all, the patriarch of the White family will continue to live on through us and watch over us as we continue to embark on life’s journeys. I will miss you forever and know one day we will see each other again, but for now rest in paradise and continue blessing me with the best golfing genes the white family has to offer. I love you.
I first met Maurice in 1978 when James and I became friends at university We immediately hit it off with our shared love of sports In the subsequent years I spent many great times in the company of the White family and always enjoyed my chats with Maurice and especially his words of wisdom- more for James than me- and his wonderfully dry wit and sense of humour Never a cross word or raised voice, just those measured words and the cheeky smile Liz and I will be forever grateful for the welcome and love we always received at the Whites, especially when we rocked up with 4 kids! Blessings to you and know that Maurice has left a great legacy in you all I am so sorry I can’t be there with you on the day but our thoughts are with you and we look forward to catching up soon God bless Chook and Liz
I first met Maurice and Jean White when I visited my old friend ‘Chalkie White in Tauranga. Maurice and Jean made me feel so very welcome when welcoming me into their home on the corner of Oban Rd. I remember sitting with them all on their deck chatting, it was something that I never forgot. I was kept up to date on Maurice’s health by Pete when we chatted via Skype I’m so sorry for your less and my sincere condolences go to all of the family. Unfortunately, I’m not able to attend in person but I will be watching the live stream, so I will be remembering Maurice and paying my respects from Worcester, UK. RIP Maurice, you can now be reunited eternally with your beloved Jean. ❤️❤️
