Don and Rosemary drove us to Remuera, made us feel at home etc It was no accident that our good Lord placed us in Watea without knowing the existing of such a place, merely trusting God. We had our first Christmas and subsequent ones with Don, Rosemary and family. It is such an honour and blessing to be loved by this beautiful family. The games we played, songs we sung and prayers. Hugs from Rosemary and advise from Don. Don has exemplified what a husband and father to many. Missing Don but thankful that he is out of pain. They have demonstrated God’s love! ❤️
Mr Rodger’s that is how I’ll always remember you, your presence at the head of the table every meal time, your presence working on machines in your front yard. I was but a wee girl, that you and Mrs Rodger’s welcomed into your home, it was through you both that I was introduced to the church, that I learnt about love, the love of a family, the love of a church, and most of all the love of God. I’ll never forget that, you’re at home now, and your legacy lives on through your children. Much love to you, and your family. Meredith
Don what a legacy you leave - A giant in the Kingdom who has been promoted to his eternal home. I remember (like it was yesterday) my first Christmas in New Zealand. the year was 1989. My 20+ year old self felt shockingly home sick and lonely. There was a very strong part of me who wanted to move back to Australia - for good! The pain of being away from my family this first Chrustmas was just too hard. That is, until you and Rosemary invited me around your table that year. What a blessing that was. Now that I have my own family, every year Alicia and I endeavor to extend grace and hospitality every Christmas to those that are away from their family. The legacy lives on, and hopefully one day my children will do the same. Until we see each other again my friend.
Thank you for your life and legacy. So many years of faithful dedication to your bride, family and the Kingdom of God. See you in heaven my friend. Much to all the family.
Thank you for demonstrating to us, your love for mum every day. As children, and adults, we loved that about you. I’m going to miss you dad. Your faithfulness, decency, commitment, humour, loyalty and love will stay with me forever. And although there are tears today, I are so grateful for the legacy you have left to us, your children, your grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dear Rosemary and family, I have valued memories of Don and you folks from the 70's. My thoughts and prayers are with you. "There's a Land that is fairer than day. And by faith we can see it afar." Much love, Ian Tasker
