Funeral service held at The Lychway Chapel
Morty - you had a way with young pilots. When we asked you a question of you your reply often was "Do you really want to know that?" Then your answer was complete in a lot of detail that was way more than we could possibly understand or remember. Your dry sense of humour, calm and never flustered manner is legendary! When you linked up with Paulette at the Ohakea Engineering Club you two made a formidable team! For a chap who worked with aircraft instruments it blew us when we saw you driving a traction engine in Feilding. Truly a man of many talents. You will be missed by many. Thanks Morty.
In 1965 I met this person at Ohakea who was always friendly and would offer assistance at the drop of a hat. He was also instrumental in organising us timekeepers for the race meetings at Manfeild. Condolences to Paulette and family. RIP Morty.
Thank you Morty for your service. Thank you for your patience and mentoring when I was a young AVTECH at Ohakea and when I was down at the Engineering Club working on my cars. You mentored hundreds of us over the years in your own unique way. You always insisted on things being done right. It didn't matter if it took longer and you had to start all over again, it had to be done right! You were a great tradesman and a VERY clever bugger. At times the RNZAF hierarchy didn't appreciate your bluntness or unique sense of humor, but we all did. You were unique, special and much loved by us all. Rest in peace my friend. Ake Ake Kia Kaha.
