So very sad to learn about Petes passing. We got to know him also from trips to French Pass and I learned the news on not receiving any text back when i asked him about French Pass Jan 2026. It is with great sadness that we have just learned of Pete’s passing. We saw Pete every January for the last four years at French pass.camp where we went fishing last year he wasn’t too good. So he left his boat at home and we took him out and hours every day he was looking and sounding very well and this is an absolute shock to us. We were just trying to contact him to find out if he was going to French pass this year as well Feeling very very sad.

Pete was always happy, jovial and keen for a catch-up over a beer especially when he came out to play a few rounds at Pungarehu Golf Club. Dear Pete, Although we've lived far apart for many years now, our connections go back a long way. From neighbours on Devon Rd, to drinking mates and rugby fans through our teenage years, to occasional drop ins and catch ups over the years since we've lived in Australia. You were always such a cheerful mate, and so easy to be around. It was so good to see you in NP when we three Russell sisters hosted our get together at the end of 2022. Rest in peace mate. My friendship with Peter started 50 years ago at the Aero Club while we were learning to fly. We enjoyed good times both in NZ and Australia over the years and he was welcomed into our family circle for many gatherings. Peter has always had such a positive outlook on life no matter what it threw at him. He had a sharp mind and an indefatigable spirit right to the end. My sincere condolences to all the family. Peter was a good friend to many and although not the greatest golfer, was a keen competitor and loved the game and cameraderie that accompanied a round. RIP my friend.

A great golfer, he was also like a chat and few beers after the game. The only thing, he was always right. He would help anyone, a good bloke, very respectful and generous man. No more pain. RIP Peter, condolences to the family.
