Chris, I am so devastated to hear of your passing. I have valued your friendship for many years and you were always there for me. I am in the middle of the ocean on last leg of a world cruise so I haven't been aware of many things in NZ.i wish I could call you one more time... you will leave such a big hole in many lives. To John Sarah and Juliet I send my love and you are all very much in my thoughts. I still make the pink slice recipe you gave me all those years ago...It will now be 'Chris slice'...you will always be remembered... a very brave lady and one I was priveledged to call my friend. Look after yourselves John and family...she was an amazing lady. Bev❤️❤️😢😢
Sorry to hear that Aunty Chris had passed away. All my love and condolences to Juliet, Sarah and John.
In loving memory of my sister Chris When you were little you were very tiny and cute with soft white curly hair. Mum worried that you were a picky eater and therefore of a delicate disposition. If you were it didnt stop you on hot summer days walking over paddocks galore to the Mangaone stream where we swam in favourite swimming spots and often caught crawlies or koura along the river banks. In the autumn we went mushrooming in the sheep paddocks. Both the crawlies and mushrooms tasted the best. Another memory is your love of games, playing cricket with your older brothers and their friends on the side lawn with a homemade wooden cricket bat. you were always first to volunteer when card games like samba or canasta were suggested. When it came to games what was your joy was my dislike and that included rugby. Teenage years we went in different directions. i was sent to a traditional all girls as did our brothers a very traditional all boys school four years on you went to a co-ed school and I marvelled at how you pulled that off. It had been noticed when you wanted to do something Mum and dad disagreed with, you often went quietly ahead and did it your way. Something I wasnt much good at being more inclined to argue the toss. Fishing was a shared passion There is a photo of a cute three year old Chris holding in each hand a big kahawai caught by Dad and holding between her lips two herrings. As we got older and not wiser we loved dragging the net at Foxton beach and thought it hilarious when we lost our footing in the rips and holes. Raglan the same except it was big thumps against the net which were stingray and they were a nuisance getting tangled in the net. And of course shellfish were always a big favourite gathering and eating. Your phone call to me just before you went into hospital has provided me with much comfort to be able to have said goodbye and you know how much I love you. Sue
