Sad to see that Vic has died. Even though he hadn't played bowls competitively since 1998, he is still well-remembered as a tough competitor; skills he had developed in a successful darts career and also in indoor bowls. Playing at the Paritutu club, Vic became a Taranaki representative and won six Taranaki titles - the champion-of-champions fours (1975), the Open triples (1979), the Easter fours (1980 and 1982), the champion-of-champions triples (1989) and the Open singles (1991). There was a long gap - some seven years - between the fourth and fifth titles, and some observers thought the fifth may never come. But Vic, with an excellent technique and as an immaculate draw player, was too good to not win more. He took the skipping berth in the champion-of-champions triples triumph - a fitting way to secure his gold star; the Open singles victory two years later climaxed an impressive haul through what was the golden period of Bowls in Taranaki.

I will always remember your Dad as a lovely gentleman. Memories of us all as young children through school and as neighbours and beyond. We have all been blessed with wonderful parents. So hard to lose them. They have left us so much to take further with our own families haven't they. Much love to you all.
