The last time I met Peter and Marlene was at their holiday home at Hokio Beach in 2002. We had many happy days at Hokio when young, travelling up with our family to stay with Doug and Myrtle Toy at Christmas time, the property's previous owners and close friends of Mum and Dad. In 2002 We were holidaying in New Zealand for our very last time. Peter threw his arms around me, gave me a huge hug and cried, totally overcome by our reunion. A day worth remembering. RIP Brother.
Peter A man who saw value in everything and never threw out anything he thought could be useful at some point in the future. I remember playing in the old repair workshop from his youth tucked in the back corner of the basement under his mother's house. Full to bursting with abandoned projects, electronic parts and broken appliances. The knowledge he had stored in his head was impressive. Even after a recent serious health event months before he was still talking about giving power point presentations to teach and share his knowledge with whoever would listen. I enjoyed hearing the stories from his youth and the antics the Sayers clan used to get up to. A true inspiration and a great loss to all that knew him. Our thoughts are with his family today. R.I.P Uncle Peter
Vale Pema. We had some good times. Summer at Hokio beach. The highlight of our childhood. You will be missed. But I guess I won't be far behind. Len
Uncle Peter I remember your goofy humour when we were young and the fun and laughter with you and Marlene when we stayed at your house. Mad professor was a name we had for you due to that wirey mop of hair and the electircal devices you were always inventing. You will always be in my heart Lots of love Karen xx
I'll miss my dear brother. I was going to catch up in Wellington in January when I'll be there. But I have a wonderful photo of us together when I saw Peter in December. Rest in peace Pee. I loved you.
