Lemalu Fuafanua Sione Lemalu.

On Friday, 7 August 2026, at his home in Southgate, surrounded by his family, aged 87 years.

Dearly loved husband of Ioka.

Loved father and father-in-law of Katie, Rona, Leevan, Annabelle and Phillip.

Devoted grandfather of Yasmine, Kane, Isaac, Olivia, Keiha, Keepa, Eleni, Nua, Dom and Mila.

Loved and cherished by all his wider family, including his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended aiga both in New Zealand and overseas, who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

Special thanks to Osama (Sam) for his care, Mary Potter Hospice, and Wellington Free Ambulance for their care and support.

Lemalu’s Requiem Mass will be celebrated at the Church of St Francis de Sales, 153 Clyde Street, Island Bay, Wellington, on Saturday 15 August 2026 at 9.00am, thereafter interment at Mākara Cemetery.

A family service will be held in the Church of St Francis de Sales, on Friday 14 August 2026 at 6.00pm.

To My auntie Ioka, I was so heartbroken to hear about your husband passing on August 7th. I have been thinking of you and the kids nonstop and praying for you. Please know how much I love you and how deeply sorry I am. Your family is in my prayers, and I am here for anything you need, anytime. Sending you all my love To my cousins, I was so sorry to hear about your dad. I know words can't take this pain away, but I want you to know I love you and I'm praying for you and Mom so hard right now. Your dad meant so much to our family. I'm here for you, today and in the days ahead. Fa'amafanafana atu. Last but not least to my family, Family, my heart is so heavy since hearing our dear uncle passed on August 7th. 💔 I’ve been praying for his wife and kids and for all of us. I just wanted to reach out and say I love you all so much. May God’s peace and comfort be with us during this difficult time. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Love you all.
