RIP aunty Maureen. You were my favourite aunty. You were so kind and funny. You let me stay in every school holidays in the 60s. I love your cooking of cakes, biscuits, scones and favourite was the yoyos and that yummy ginger crunch. You would always give Carol an me a job to do. Go get the green round wax polish tin and cloths and start putting polish on lino floors and rub polish all over floor. Our hands were yuk with wax and stunk of polish. Then clean cloths and make floor shine. Then we had to put socks on and skid and slid all over floor till we could see our face . That was fun. Next day carol an i get pretty dresses on. Geoffrey Tom in the pushchair and aunty maureen walk to bus stop on Wallath Rd NP. Wait for trolley bus with City written at top of bus. Next minute pushchair gets hooked up on hooks at front of bus. Off to the big Farmers building where Top Town is today. Played ludo and snakes and ladders. Uncle Tom at weekend would take us over to Granny Burgess. Remember house at Whitby place where we were always over at dave an gail mueli. Was fun. Loved been with my cousins Maree,Carol,Owen, Cyn and Geoff. Glad Brenda and myself came and visited you in Tainui when we did. Thinking of you Aunty Maureen always.
Sincere condolences to the Burgess families, my Mum, Pauline, really enjoyed Maureen's company. Thinking of you all xx
