With great sadness the Riley family announces the peaceful passing of Peter Brian Riley, aged 84, of Whangateau.

Beloved husband of the late Margaret, and father of Marianne, Fergus, Nicola, Aidan, and Scott; cherished grandfather to Nyla, Leinasei, Will, Evie and Conor; and brother of Pat, Chris, and the late Terry.

Peter lived life to the fullest, devoted to his beloved family, his treasured farm, and the rivers, forests, and landscapes that inspired both his recreation and his life's work. A fast and wiry rugby winger in his younger years, he later became a respected expert in dams and engineering geology, founding Riley Consultants.

A celebration of Peter's life has been held at Whangateau Hall on Friday, 17 July 2026 at 12:30pm, followed by interment at Whangateau Cemetery.
