CHATER, Arthur Noel Gerard (Garry) 

After facing life's challenges with remarkable strength and determination, Garry died peacefully on 8 July 2026, surrounded by his family.

Garry was the heart of our family. Beloved husband of Jacqui, proud Dad to Rachel, Geoff, Jayne and Alleyne, cherished Poppa to Ophelia, Caleb, Georgie, Waimana, Nikau, Hannah, Piki, Matilda, Rosa, George and Olive, loving brother to Neil and Terry, much loved uncle and a loyal friend to many.

He lived life on his own terms, with strength, resilience, a wonderful sense of humour and an incredible ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Proud of his years of service in the Royal NZ Navy and a lifelong rugby man, Garry built friendships wherever life took him, leaving behind countless stories, laughs and memories that will be treasured always.

In keeping with Garry's wishes, a private cremation has been held.

We warmly invite all who knew Garry to join us as we celebrate his life.
