Barbara Joyce Moller

Barbara Joyce Moller - nee Hook:

Passed away on 17 June 2026 following a brief illness, aged 82.

Beloved wife of the late Garry, mother of Ani and Kerry and Nanna to Kyra and Connor.

Barbara was a committed Christian who attended Wesley Church for many years and more recently St Margaret’s in Silverstream.

A special mention must go to Rodney Ramsey the Minister at St Margaret's for his care and support of Barbara in her final hours.

A vibrant lady who loved a chat and a laugh, Barbara will be sadly missed by her church friends, old buddies from Rata Street School, fellow gym goers, and many others from her years living in Naenae and Upper Hutt.

A celebration of her life will be held at Harbour City Funeral Home on Tuesday 23 June at 11am.

To keep her memory bright with the flowers she loved so much, please bring something from your garden as a tribute to our cherished garden-lover.

You are welcome to join us for morning tea after the service, followed by a final farewell at Akatarawa Cemetery.

Please leave any messages for the family on this page.

Thanks to those who visited and sent messages to Barbara in her final days and after her passing. We are now at peace knowing that she is resting peacefully in her eternal garden 🌹🌷🌺

You will be forever missed, always remembered and your memories will live on . You taught me many things in life and I’m so glad to be able to pass them onto Kyra and Connor . I will miss the times of doing things together, talking about everything and everything for hours . You were always pleased to see me. It a bit empty without you now. She was a very good lay preacher. And socially enjoyable when attending groups she was part of.

Our very dear friend Barbara. What can we say. So many memories, back to Naenae church of Christ days. Your visit to see us with Gary before your trip by train to Sth Australia, and your recent trip to Melbourne where we met you Ani, and a Neice at San Remo for the feeding of the Pelicans. This was followed up by afternoon tea at our place at Kilcunda. Where we took photos also. Then your trip back to Melbourne. We will cherish this visit you made. Rest in peace dear friend, and we know you will at last be out of pain and in the hands of Jesus.

While I only met Barbs once in person, Ani always kept me updated and kindly sent greetings on my behalf to her when they were together or via phone. Barbs, Ani and myself shared the most beautiful walk on one of her visits to Melbourne. We went to the Melbourne Botanic Gardens and had a lovely wander through various gardens and displays. Her love of nature was joyful and her outlook on life reflected her appreciation for the world and her dedication to God. Ani always said she could turn even the toughest of moments around with gratitude and a smile. Barbs, I’m so thankful I was able to know you, even if it was mostly via FaceTime and text message! I’m also thankful you brought one of my best friends into this world. I know without a doubt that your kindness, compassion, and celebration of nature will live on through Ani. I’m glad you are at peace now with God.

Oh mum. I am so heartbroken you are gone. I am going to miss our chats, our laughs, our Sunday drives, our cups of tea and wandering around your garden looking at all your beautiful flowers. You were such a wonderful mum and your passing leaves a giant void in my heart. I will fill it with all the beautiful memories I have of our time together. I am glad you are no longer in pain, and you're now at peace, with god, and all your loved ones who crossed over before you. Until we meet again... 💕🌸
