Tributes

Dear Annette, I will miss your friendship, your kindness and down to earth attitude. You knew me when I was 18 and at a church camp at Dawsons Falls in Taranaki. Our friendship renewed when I came back to Wellington in 1980. You were a great mother, a super grandmother and a great help to so many people. We will keep fond memories of all that you were in our hearts. Pat Berry

Annette has been a steady “treasure” of our community and church life - over the decades She radiated a grace, a precision, and a truthfulness that keeps things “right” Her pure light will never fade - it is like a reflected moon beam of sunlight - and enduring illumination of goodness, day and night We continue to be blessed by an immortal goodness uniquely expressed - true motherhood Thank you, Annette and thank you to her family There are verses in the Bible that I’m sure Annette treasured: “There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.” (Eccl. 9:14, 15) Well - we do remember you, Annette! And cherish her right well Lang may your lum reek

Dennis and I had the pleasure of knowing Annette through church. In this association we saw Annette's qualities of thoroughness, diligence, and close attention to detail - someone who gave unstintingly to the church through commitment, and reliable and dedicated service. She had a wonderful sense of humour which at times was quite dry and hit the mark. She was always gracious and kind-hearted towards everyone, showing her gentle thoughtfulness in so many ways. We enjoyed her company, and will miss her presence. It's been a great pleasure to know her.

Annette was, and still is, a true treasure, and it seems fitting that she was our church’s Treasurer for years beyond counting. We remember her meticulous attention to detail, phenomenal memory, unfailing courtesy and patience as well as her total reliability in all her dealings with others. Her even-handedness and professionalism were also greatly valued. She truly was a pillar of the church, and will be greatly missed by her church family.

Annette, I will miss your smiling face and chuckle. Your dedication and service to what you dearly valued and loved was unwavering and to be admired. Your professional finance ability was outstanding, your sharpness with figures, recall of detail kept us all on our toes and was such a valuable contribution to our meetings. I am sure you will continue to bless as you go forward, thank you for blessing my life with your light!

Annette, we are really going to miss you. Your warmth and quiet, gentle manner are a lasting memory. Anne and I greatly appreciated your professional advice on our tax returns where you gave heaps of your time, but would accept very little in return! Your attention to detail, efficiency and reliability when it came to your countless years as church Treasurer will always be appreciated. You made very little of your own challenges and we always enjoyed catching up with you, whether for professional, or for personal company.

I welcomed Annette into our family in the mid 1980’s when her father, Peter, married my mother. Annette quickly and easily fitted in and when I remarried after the early passing of my wife and I remarried my new wife, Linda, also developed a close friendship with Annette. We kept regularly in touch and were sorry to learn of her passing. We will certainly miss her.
