Tributes

Minja, Lorence, Drago and I met through mutual friends some 30+ years ago, began our friendship and became family. We are remembering times together at their home in Croydon Hills and ours in Montrose, countless holidays and outings, Midnight Masses, New Years Eve, Melbourne Cups and Australia days in Montrose, Christmases, Birthdays, Weddings and overseas visits, truly life full of memories. What a great times we had together, enriched by. Minja's large than life personality, her zest for life, full of fun and laughter, care and love she had for friends and above all for her family. Our close friendship culminated when Jack was born, we were honored to become his Godparents and became family. Minja's and Lorence's love for Sandra and grandchildren was the reason they moved to New Zeland . We could not see each other as often, but this did not stop us from constantly talking on the phone, visiting whenever possible and above all our feeling of deep connection, love and care which was always present and will be with us forever. Minja faced many challenges, one of which was her health,, but she was one never to give up. When she was taken to the hospital this last time we believed she will pull through as she always did. I am glad I had a chance to talk to her then and tell her how much Drago and I love her. Rest in peace Minja, you are now with your Lorence, watching over your family who were everything to you. We will meet there one day. We will be missing you and you will always be in our hearts Slavia, Drago and family in Montrose Melbourne

Slavia and Drago Ilic

Today we pay tribute to a remarkable woman, Minja Ivelja — a much loved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend whose warmth, kindness and strength touched so many lives. To Sandra and Owen, Minja was far more than family. She was a guiding presence, a source of unwavering love, wisdom and support, and someone whose generosity of spirit made everyone around her feel welcome and valued. Those fortunate enough to know Minja will remember her gentle nature, her resilience, her care for others and the quiet dignity with which she carried herself throughout her life. She created a legacy not through grand gestures, but through love, compassion, loyalty and the countless everyday moments that become treasured memories. The loss of someone so special leaves an enormous void, but Minja’s influence and love will continue to live on through her family, her friendships and the values she instilled in those closest to her. May Sandra, Owen, Jack and Aidan and all who loved Minja find comfort in the memories they shared, in the laughter and love she brought into their lives, and in knowing that her life made a profound difference to so many. Rest peacefully, Minja. You will be remembered with great affection, gratitude and love. Enjoy the great Bacardi in the sky! Mark Ford
