Of Raumati Beach, formerly of Johnsonville. Peacefully surrounded by his family at Kena Kena Rest Home on Friday 15 May 2026. Aged 88 years. Dearly loved husband of 65 years to Carol. Loved father and father-in-law of Sarah & Soni, Stuart, and Brian & Katrina. Adored and much loved grandad of Rebecca, Emily, Alesha, Nathan, and Jessica. Loved brother of Jill Kearns (France). Heartfelt thanks to the team at Kena Kena for their outstanding compassion and care of Derek. A service to celebrate Derek's life will be held at the Funeral Home Chapel, 9-11 Hinemoa Street, Paraparaumu (located appropriately next to the railway line) on Thursday 21 May 2026 at 11.00am, to be followed by private cremation.
