Passed away peacefully at Taranaki Base Hospital New Plymouth on Wednesday 13th May 2026 after a hard fought few months. Dearly loved husband and best friend of Joy for 62 years. Much loved dad to Julie and Pete (Wellington), and Grant (Hawera). Awesome grandad to Sophie (his peanut).
One of life’s ‘good buggers’.

Joy I’m next door if you kneed me. Murry is Bloody Good Guy, Rest in Peace.
What a loss… my friendship with Jules kinda made me extended family. I shared many great times, stories, laughs, cups of tea, poached eggs for brekkie, bread & butter with tea, summers at Urenui, sleepovers at Caledonia & Dixon, the odd beer with Murray on members night at STC. The conservatory was always filled with sunshine from the outside, love and laughs from within. A genuine and gentle character who has left a mark in our hearts and will be missed terribly. Be at peace and pain free Murray. Our most heartfelt condolences to Joy, Jules, Pete, Grant, Sophie, Lil, Jase, Bailey, Olivia & Hannah. x
To Uncle Murray and immediate family .. with sincere heartfelt condolences, he is at peace now and away from anymore suffering. Your Sister Joy has asked me to also send her deepest sympathies. She is very sad at the moment of the loss of her brother. She of course wishes she could be there but wants to send an out pouring of love to all. Rest in peace Murray you were indeed such a good buggar. Love from Karen and Joy xxx❤️🫶🏻
We will always remember Uncle Murray ‘Muzza’ for his gentle nature and the quiet kindness he showed to everyone around him. We will remember him for living his life with genuine care, always steady, always thoughtful. His love for Joy was constant and strong, and he took great pride in Julie, Pete and Grant. His granddaughter Sophie brought him a special kind of joy. Uncle Muzza leaves us with memories of warmth, humility and a life centred around family, a legacy we’ll hold close. Kind regards, Paul, Kim, Clayton, Finley and Trish Glossop
