My memory’s of Aunty Janet are being feed till I burst , walking around her beautiful rockery garden and her always worrying if I was warm enough . What a wonderful kind lady she was . To all my Newton cousins, Jane and I send our love to you all at this sad time. 33 years ago Janet travelled to England to attend our wedding, she gave us a full cutlery set as a gift which we still use today. I still can't beleive she hauled such a heavy present all that way! Years later our children travelled to NZ to visit their grandparents which included a nights stay at aunty Janets. They loved it and I'm happy they got to meet her and experience her warmth and legendary hospitality. RIP Janet From the Haigh family in the UK.

To the family My heartfelt condolences on the passing of Janet. I have just watched the service from Mimi - what a truly beautiful tribute to her. I remember her with warmth from when my family visited the homestead in my growing up years, providing the impressive homely spread and talking plants with my folks. Love Virginia.

To the Newton family. I am sorry to hear of Janet's passing. A life long friend of Mum Margaret Fleming. I took Mum to see Janet at the resthome a couple of times and that was such a treat to hear them share their stories. They reminiscied and laughed. Our mother always spoke of Janet's beauty. Inside and outside. You will miss her immensely. She was such the matriarch. Please accept my sincere condolences and disappointment I am away and cannot attend her farewell. So sorry to hear of Janet’s passing. We have fond memories of family gatherings at the farm and Bob doing lots of building there. Whenever we met Janet her face would light up and she smiled as if we were the most important people she had met that day. Unfortunately we can’t make the funeral but will be thinking of you all.

Many happy memories of family times with our parents being great friends, parties in the Urenui homestead & stories told - particularly from Harold & Albert, always accompanied by endless food made by Janet; the last of a generation.
