To Max and family I was so sorry to hear of Karen's passing such a strong lady with the battle she has had.Such a wonderful nurse and a beautiful person. RIP Karen 🙏
To the Hay and Walker families, Karen was a lovely friend to me during my teenage years and I will always cherish the fun times we shared together. Karen was a great fan of the 'Bay City Rollers' and I recall she had a poster on her bedroom wall in Nevada Drive. I clearly recall Karen purchasing her nursing uniform, watch, scissors and other items necessary for her exciting venture into the nursing profession at 17 years of age. It was a wonderful surprise to catch up with Karen and Dawn six years ago in New Plymouth. I am so very sorry for your great loss and send much love and deepest sympathy to you.
What an honour it was to have known Karen. We met in 2008 when I started Dragonboating and she was always the epitome of good fashion with never a hair out of place despite giving it her all A true inspiration in everything she did You will be sorely missed Sharon Taylor
One in a million. But you knew that! Much love 💚
Karen was a wonderful and caring nurse at Phoenix Urgent Doctors. Her empathy and skill was much appreciated by her colleagues and the patients. May she rest in peace. Hiran and Pretheeva
To the Hay family, Thinking of you all today. Karen was such a strong, amazing, and loving person who always opened her home to us, especially during high school. I remember one time when my parents were away and I fell over during netball pretty bad — Karen came over to my house and fixed me right up, picking out bits of gravel from my cuts and scrapes. I’ll always remember her kindness. Sending lots and lots of love from Scotland xx
Dear Max, Erica, Connor and Regan On such a sad day, let us remember what is important in life. It's the love and respect that family and friends have for Karen. It is clear that on that measure it is immense. We will all miss her dearly
Dear Max, Connor, Erica and Regan. It is with great sadness that I send this tribute to you for the loss of Karen. Karen and I first met nursing in ED years ago which then developed into friendship over the years some times distant then we would meet up and the years dropped away with her smile and open hearted sharing of our lives ! On the beach walking the dogs, in town, and in Pukekura park. I remember when Max was pursuing her to marry him and they started their life and family together. So much to remember, she will be treasured in my memories. Such a beautiful soul has left this world far too soon. Karen you will be missed dearly .
Dear Max, Erica, Connor and Regan and all Karen's family We are heart broken to lose Karen so soon, she will be dearly missed. We cherish our special memories of growing families together and especially those amazing and crazy camping holidays. Thank you for being a second Mum to Kima and my dear friend over so many formative years. With my Sacred Heart Girls' College hat on, I would like to pay public tribute to the incredible service Karen gave our school through the PTFA over so many years. Her energy and commitment was tireless and her service to the community so valued. God bless you, Karen. Eternal rest grant to you, O Lord and let perpetual light shine on you. May you rest in peace. Arohanui Barb, Tim, Kima, Anna and Patrick and family
Dear Max and family I was so sad to hear the news about Karen. I worked many a shift at Phoenix with her. She was such a pleasure to work with. She was a great nurse but I was suitably impressed with all the out of work activities she was doing. And her family was so important to her. Cherish the memories of your beautiful wife, mother, daughter and sister.
Max and family Our deepest sympathy on the passing of your beautiful wife and mum. Will treasure our memories of Karen. Our love. Mark and Pam Hawken
Max and Family we were very saddened to hear of Karen’s passing we have very fond memories of Karen from when we first met at Play centre in Lepperton through to all our catch-ups the most recent one being just before christmas on the walk way sharing stories about our families children. Sending lots of love ❤️
I was very sad to hear about Karen. She was a lot of fun and so supportive. I think of her when I'm reading and her quirk of reading the end of the book first. I will remember the car trips with Anne to bookgroup and the long Sacred Heart PTFA meetings. She will be missed xx
Karen's caring nature was evident in all she did and I truly valued her friendship. Her courage and positivity were inspirational, as were her numerous achievements. Underlying everything, was a genuine kindness, coupled with a huge amount of energy. She will be sadly missed.
Max and family I was so privileged to work with Karen in the Emergency Department. She was awesome to work with and such a caring person. God bless you all. Love and prayers from Patrick and Trish Morris
From all of us at On The House Charitable Trust We are deeply saddened by the loss of Karen, who was a cherished part of our On The House whānau since June 2022. Karen brought such warmth, dedication, and kindness to everything she did. As one of our senior volunteers, she was a steady presence who others looked up to, and her generous spirit touched countless lives across our community. Whether she was helping at our Free Stores, supporting our operations, or simply sharing a kind word with those who needed it most, Karen embodied the very heart of what we do. Nearly four years of loyal service is a beautiful legacy, but it's the genuine care and aroha she shared that we'll remember most. Karen helped us rescue food and restore dignity, and she did it with grace. Our thoughts are with Max, Regan, Connor, Erica, and all of Karen's whānau during this difficult time. Thank you, Karen, for everything you gave to our community. You will be deeply missed.
Dear Max and family, our heartfelt condolences to you all. Karen was such a vibrant, beautiful and kind person, with a radiant smile that would light up your day! It was always great to catch up with her whenever our paths crossed. Thinking of you all and knowing Karen will always be beside you. xxxxx Gary, Julie and family
Such great memories of Karen, as Anne’s bridesmaid, as a lifelong adventurer, a builder of homes (many) and families, pragmatic to the core. So many achievements in a life, if only it could have been longer. Love and thoughts to Max and Karen’s family and friends
To Max and family - what fond memories I have of Karen when I worked at Phoenix Urgent Doctors as receptionist. The most wonderful, kind and dedicated nurse one could wish for. Sending my sympathy to you all.
Dawn, Max and family, I am saddened to hear of the passing of Karen. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I first met the Walker family when we (Burtt family) received a warm welcome into Nevada Drive in 1976. Karen was a bright teenager with the world at her feet. She grasped that opportunity. In more recent years we met up again when we both worked at Phoenix Urgent Doctors. Karen was a very professional, capable, caring and kind nurse. I never heard her say a bad word about anyone. My deepest sympathy to all of Karen's family
