Mrs Signal... Wow, there's so much I could say about her. How can I write in 2000 words about someone who has been there my entire life? She was such a treasured part of our family - she slipped into Mums life so naturally and she had been there since I was born. Always being there meant we often forgot she wasn’t technically ‘ours' but she was a cheirshed member of our whānau at the end of the day. She was Mrs Signal, a respected person in our family who earned our respect by just being who she was and turning up when we needed it the most. She was impossible not to love, and her one in a million prescence is something that will be deeply missed by all but especially by my Mum I would think as they were so close over the years. I am so grateful for all the years of laughter, stories, cups of tea (she would always come over after church for a cup), beautiful memories like going to spiritual church and watching her continue to flourish as a strong and independent lady who didn't need anyone but chose to engage with others. The tireless care and love we were blessed to be able to give her, I will forever be thankful for - especially in the times when she needed steady hands and dependable hearts and we did, too. Difficult times and celebrations, we were always there and she would be there for us, too. Without fail. She’ll always hold a place in our family, and in our hearts. We'll love you forever, Mrs Signal xx

To dear Jean, a beautiful and caring person. I have enjoyed our conversations and friendships over 20 plus years. We have shared laughter as well. You considerable devotion to community service in Sanson and Hunterville are to be thoroughly commended. The many times you babysat children, opened your home to numerous children, stood in for absent grandparents at grandparent's day for school events, the many gifts you knitted for children and teachers is to be commended and much appreciated. Your kind listening ear to many people is such a wonderful gift to have, the many presentations of retro goods you brought to schools........Thank you for the privilege of knowing such a special and kind friend like Jean - a real treasure indeed.
