Tributes

I'm the younger sister of Miriam and dear Auntie Margery was the elder sister of our Dad (John). I first met Auntie Margery and Uncle Pat when they visited us in Wales when I was a child. Eventually I travelled to NZ and got to spend time with them both in their beautiful home in St Heliers Bay and at the family bach. It was wonderful to visit Auntie Margery again in 2019 with my partner Mike, my cousin Melanie and Melanie's husband, Paul, making precious memories. As I wandered the globe backpacking in my 20s I would always tell people I inherited the travel gene from my Auntie Margery in NZ! A truly lovely person. I will miss her. xx

I had the pleasure of visiting New Zealand in 2011 on business, and the absolute joy of spending a couple of days with Auntie Margery in Auckland. We walked around the harbour, and had dinner in the Skytower - where I discovered I had temporarily paralysing vertigo! But she so kindly talked me through it (with a few glasses of wine) and we had a wonderful evening above the city. She was so hospitable and welcoming, considering it had been a long time since we had met (previously in the UK when I was a teenager) - and even though I was travelling alone - on the "other side of the world" I felt safe and "at home". In the evening, when I left her apartment to drive back to my hotel at the airport, we actually phoned the hotel to check that I had got back safely - so lovely! God bless Auntie Margery, and Rest in Peace.
