PERRY, Lynn Yooko (nee Umeda)
26 August 1952 - 22nd October 2025
Passed away surrounded by sister, daughter, son and
husband at Palmerston North Hospital from the effects of interstitial
lung disease; finally being at peace, but gone far too
soon.
She was a kind and gentle spirit; a mother to Evelyn and
Edward, a grandmother to Emira, a mother-in-law to
Dorothy, a sister to June and a wife of 49 years to Paul.
She left her mark on the world as a teacher, a volunteer
with refugees and the Red Cross and in her younger days
as a champion baton twirler.
A memorial service will be held later this year. Following
her wishes her ashes are to be scattered in her beloved
Hawaii.

“a hui hou” (until we meet again)
Aloha Paul, Edward, Evelyn, Dorothy and Emira, My heartfelt prayers and deepest ALOHA go out to all of ‘Ohana Perry! I’m blessed to know Lynn who also shared her families with me. I pray you all have the strength, comfort and peace to get through this difficult time. May the memories shared bring a smile and warmth to your hearts. You know the legacy of a life is well-lived and better-loved when the abundance of aloha resounds far beyond this realm.
Dear Paul and family I was sorry to hear of Lynn's illness and passing. I remember her warm smile, hospitality and delicious cooking. She introduced us to sushi for the first time. Please know I am thinking of you all. With love Mary Ann
To: Paul and Family: It was a shock to see the report in today’s paper that Lynn is no longer with us on this earth. She always seemed so very alive and involved in all sorts of things. Barbara is also no longer with us, but I am sure that if she were here, she would join me in passing on my sincerest condolences to all of you. Barbara would have known Lynn best, but we all knew her well from the time when you all arrived in NZ and our Chris became involved with the group that Lynn brought together to teach baton twirling. I remember clearly the year when the group marched proudly in the Christmas parade with impressive baton twirling, although sometimes not quite in time to each other. Barbara in particular valued Lynn as a good friend with a number of shared interests in crafty areas in particular. I know from experience that the absence of Lynn from the family will leave a big gap, especially for you Paul. This gap will not disappear, but other new activities will ease the hurt. Again, my deep condolences. Roger
