I’m very sorry to hear about the passing of Richard. I’m sorry I can’t be there today, I’m over seas but I’m thinking of you all and the life of one of Northland’s great characters. Big love to the family. I have many memories that date back to my teenage years knocking around the old house in Kerikeri, that man put up with much mischief between all of us lads that frequented his house, god knows what he knew and kept quiet. I worked a little bit on some building projects with Richard for a short time, god bless his patients, I was not cut out for building or turning up on time but he smiled at my incompetence and somehow we got on with it. I enjoyed his company every time, a man of practical talent and a true bloke. Lots of love to him and the family, he bred some solid stock, I’m proud to say that we all remain friends to this day.
