Alan and Jill you were a huge part of my life as a child and young adult. You were a huge support to both of my parents but my mum in particular after my dad passed. I know that it is because of you (and others at Holy Trinity) that we fared so well during those times. Thank you so much for everything. I can’t express the respect and gratitude I have for the many kindnesses shown to our family and to me individually over the years. Rest in peace. My love and condolences to you all, Jill, Pip, Erin and families. Xx
Erin and I became friends at university, she has been instrumental in keeping a few of us together, which I am continually grateful for. It sounds like some of this lovely way she has of loving both quietly and fiercely has also been the way Alan engaged. It was lovely to be a part of this beautiful goodbye online and to learn more about his life of service and fun-loving silliness. I am so sorry for your loss Erin. It's huge losing a parent. Sending love to all the family and chosen family and friends as you process this huge loss.
Alan As a BRANZ Board member - a gentleman so generous with his time, experience and expertise. He brought a caring spirit devoted to asking questions, being curious and doing the right thing. He was a huge support to me and the team for the leadership around a campus redevelopment - a legacy he leaves for all New Zealand. And outside of the Board room - I enjoyed sharing our respective stories of a family history traced back to India and our mutual love of Scottish whisky. I will be raising a toast to you Alan, RIP.
Farewell dear cousin - I will miss you, and your visits with us when you came up to Auckland.
A great friend, a great work mate and a great leader. Our thoughts are with Jill and the family. RIP Alan
