Thank you so much, Neila, for always being kind to my family and me, for warmly welcoming Luke into your home on so many occasions, and for facilitating Luke’s friendship with Sam in general. I will remember your warmth and brightness, your “Come in, come in!” when I’d go to collect Luke from your house, our chats, and, most of all, the love, time, and effort that you dedicated to Sam and Alex. Much love to you and your family. Vicki Winkel, Mark Ford, Emmett Ford, and Luke Ford

Lyndal, Wade, Boyd, John, and Glenys and Tom I was only thinking of Neila yesterday as I drove down Smart Rd, so it was a shock to see she had gone. I remember her fondly from our days as Fitzroy school Mums and on the Fitzroy Plunket committee. She was such a hard worker with a big heart and a quiet faith. We enjoyed lots of laughs. It was lovely to reconnect with her last year at Marbles. There will be a big hole in your lives now. Find solace in your memories. Marlene Beech (previously McAllum/Revell)

Dear John, Lyndel, Wade and Boyd. So sorry to read you have lost your matriarch. Neila was one in a million in every respect. Such a talented and clever lady. From her long phone calls to telling me how things should be done, all done with love and kindness, she will be remembered in love. Rest in peace dear Neila. You got to 70 before me, like we always joked about our birthdays. My life is richer for having known Neila for 35 years.

John, Neila became a friend from the very first minute I met her. Her wit and humour were fantastic, you could get lost in conversation with her without even trying. I’m going to miss her smart remarks and the cheek she gave. She’ll be sorely missed, not only by us but by your grandchildren, your children, and of course, by you. Rest in love and in the Lord’s arms, Neila. 💗
